Wikipedia resources[]
In addition to anything else on this page, you are invited to explore evolutionary science on the Wikipedia, which has vast resources and ready-made links on the subject. To begin that journey, see Wikipedia:Evolution.
Although most of the links on this page and elsewhere in this Evolutionary Spirituality Wiki link to pages on this site, many of them -- especially those in this science section -- will have comparable pages on the Wikipedia that you may enjoy exploring.
Evolutionary Narratives & Timelines[]
There are many ways to talk about the events from the beginning of the universe (or the earth) until now.
- In this wiki we refer to the most bare-scientific renditions as the history of the universe/earth or the natural history of the universe/earth. This is often presented in the form of evolutionary timelines.
- Evolutionary renditions that evoke a sense of awe, kinship, and/or participation in evolution we call the universe story or the epic of evolution.
- The most spiritual or personally meaningful renditions of the universe story that impact the way people live their lives, we call The Great Story.
For a more detailed comparison of these, see comparison of evolutionary narrative forms.
Evolutionary Dynamics and Mechanisms[]
The most familiar mechanism of biological evolution is natural selection. Others include:
- Genetic drift
- Mutation
- Recombination
- Gene flow
