There are many different categories of books that cover evolutionary spirituality. The books by Thomas Berry & Brian Swimme are a good place to start.
For perhaps the best modern-day responses to the question “Is there or is there not a progressive direction to evolution?”:
- Robert Wright's book, Nonzero: The Logic of Human Destiny
- Connie Barlow's book: Evolution Extended: Biological Debates on the Meaning of Life, originally published in 1995 by MIT Press and now self-published in paperback and available from the author.
- Mark Hathaway and Leonardo Boff's book: The Tao of Liberation: Exploring the Ecology of Transformation. published by Orbis books in 2009, is a "search for wisdom in a time of crisis" that explores the implications of an evolutionary cosmology for transformative action while drawing on such diverse fields as economics, ecology, psychology, systems theory, quantum physics, and a variety of spiritual traditions.
- Tom Atlee's Reflections on Evolutionary Activism: Essays, Poems, and Prayers from an Emerging Field of Sacred Social Change (2009). Available for free download as well as print copy.
